Autumn Flu/Covid Booster Update
Flu vaccinations for pregnant women and children will begin in September, and those who are eligible will be invited in for this. In the Surgery we will be vaccinating 2–3-year-olds, and those under 18 who are clinically at risk. All other children will be vaccinated at school
The main flu/ COVID-19 vaccination campaign begins on 1st October,
Flu:
- All adults over 65
- Those over 18 who are in a clinical risk group.
- Carers
- Frontline healthcare workers
- Close contacts of immunosuppressed individuals.
Covid:
- This year it is only available for adults aged 75 and over and those over 18 who are immunosuppressed
Everyone who is eligible for a covid jab will be eligible for the flu jab as well. We will ideally administer both together during the Covid clinics.
The Covid/ Flu clinics will be held at the Surgery on Monday evenings in October, starting on the 6th. We have now put them on the system and if you are eligible, ie over 75 or immunosuppressed, you will be able to book in online or by calling us.
We will be contacting all those eligible to invite them to book. This can be done online or please call the surgery and we will do it for you.
RSV Vaccination
If you are eligible for the RSV vaccine you will have had a text or a call inviting you to book in. This is for those aged 75 to 79 years old on 1 September 2024, and those turning 75 after this date.
Pregnant ladies over 28 weeks are also eligible and we are keen for them to have the vaccine in order to protect their babies. Pease speak to your midwife for more information.
Please call us to book in, and we will be offering the vaccine ad hoc to eligible patients while they are here for other appointments.
Childhood Immunisations
Please respond when your child is invited for vital immunisation against diseases such as DTP Hib and polio, MMR, meningitis and HPV. These vaccinations are vital for prevention of the spread of these diseases.
Please call for more information or to speak to Ali Elly or Holly our Practice Nurses if you have any questions.
